The much-anticipated movie version of hit West End musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie will be released by Twentieth Century Fox on 23 October next year.
The film stars Max Harwood as Jamie - making his professional on-screen debut - Richard E Grant as Hugo and his drag alias Loco Chanel, Sarah Lancashire as Margaret New, Catastrophe’s Sharon Horgan as Miss Hedge and Shobna Gulati as Ray, who also played the role in the West End production.
The theatrical version premiered two years ago and was inspired by a BBC documentary about teenager Jamie Campbell, who had met resistance after declaring his desire to go to his school prom wearing a dress.
The touring version of the West End musical is coming to the Midlands next year. Starring EastEnders favourite Shane Richie as Hugo and Loco Chanel, the show visits the Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham, from Monday 16 to Saturday 21 March and Wolverhampton Grand Theatre from Tuesday 23 to Saturday 27 June.
