A call to protest against a Stop No Outsiders meeting has been put forward by Birmingham-based Phillipa Jane. Taking to Facebook, Phillipa has called on members of the LGBTQI+ community and allies to join together and stand united in light of the recent events surrounding the Parkfield School decision to suspend its No Outsiders programme.
Commenting on the protest, Phillipa stated: "Despite meeting with members of the local community in order to understand the differing perspectives of everyone involved in the conversation around teaching Equality and Diversity in Schools, the leaders of the 'Stop No Outsiders' group have taken the decision to ignore the perspectives of the LGBTQI+ community and widen the scope of their activities."
She believes that "the Stop No Outsiders group fundamentally misunderstands the aims of the No Outsiders programme and is seeking to spread misinformation on a national level. If this is allowed to continue it will create further divisions in communities across the country."
The protest is due to take place at Noshahi Civic Centre, Small Heath, Birmingham, on Saturday 23 March from 5.30pm.
