'Pray For Orlando' vigil to take place in Birmingham tonight

Following shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida yesterday, Birmingham's gay scene will come together tonight to show support, love and respect to all the victims and their families of the horrific attacks.


The attack, which took place at about 2am local time (6am GMT) at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, saw 50 people killed and 53 people injured by Omar Mateen and is said to be the deadliest mass shooting in recent US history.

In response to the attacks, a vigil will take place tonight in the heart of Birmingham's gay village. People who wish to take part in the vigil are being asked to gather outside The Nightingale Club on Kent Street for 10pm where speeches from Steve Ball and Steve Bedser will preceede a two minute silence.
