The number of Pride events to be cancelled around the world as a result of the coronavirus pandemic has now exceeded 100.

Yesterday saw the postponement of Birmingham Pride until early autumn, with Pride In London announcing that it would no longer be taking place in June.

At the time of publication, in excess of 120 Pride events across the globe have either been cancelled or put on hold. Festivals due to take place as late into the season as July are among the casualities.

Commenting on the fast-moving situation, the European Pride Organisers Association (EPOA) said: “A large number of Prides are awaiting clarification on their governments’ positions in relation to mass gatherings, and how long bans will remain in effect; we anticipate a large number of Prides will make announcements in the coming days.”

The EPOA in association with Attitude magazine has been gathering data about which Prides are cancelling or postponing the 2020 edition of their event.
