Five Birmingham schools have joined Saltley's Parkfield Community School in suspending equality & LGBT rights programme No Outsiders.

The news comes in the wake of a long-running controversy at Parkfield which has seen parents of children at the predominantly Muslim school protest against the teaching of lessons in which their primary-age youngsters are learning about same-sex relationships.

The five primary schools to have joined Parkfield in suspending their No Outsiders programme are all part of the Leigh Trust - Leigh Primary School, Alston Primary School, Marlborough Junior, Marlborough Infants and Wyndcliff Primary School.

The schools are suspending the programme until after Ramadan in June. In the meantime, they intend to consult with parents about the No Outsiders initiative.
