The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in a huge increase in the number of calls being made to the LGBT Foundation charity - with many of the callers being people who have no choice but to self-isolate with abusive family and partners.
Speaking to pinknews.com, LGBT Foundation Chief Executive Paul Martin said: “We are seeing some young LGBT teenagers trapped in their homes with abusive parents and not even school to provide respite, trans people no longer being able to live as the gender they identify due to family pressures, and people in same-sex relationships isolated with their abusive partner.
“We’ve also been spending time thinking about the most at-risk members of our communities - people over 70, those with underlying health conditions, and those living in domestic abuse situations.”
To contact the LGBT Foundation helpline, call 0345 3 30 30 30, 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday or email email@example.com.
