West Indies cricketer Shannon Gabriel has been banned for the first four one-day internationals against England after making a homophobic remark in the third and final Test match between the two countries in St Lucia.

The ban was imposed after Gabriel, 30, made the comment, which it's believed included the word ‘gay’, to England captain Joe Root. In reply, Root told Gabriel: "Don't use it as an insult. There's nothing wrong with being gay."
