An actor from long-running Birmingham-produced radio soap opera The Archers is to star as gay character Todd Grimshaw in Coronation Street.
Welsh-born Gareth Pierce - Gavin Moss in The Archers - has also starred in Stella, Ordinary Lies and Hinterland.
He will take over as Todd from Bruno Langley, who played the character for 16 years.
Langley was sacked from the soap after being accused of and pleading guilty to sexually assaulting two women at a Manchester music venue. He was handed a 12-month community order in 2017.
Commenting on his new role, Gareth is reported by the Liverpool Echo as saying: “I’m thrilled to be joining such an iconic show, and to have been entrusted with taking Todd forward into some really exciting storylines.
“It’s an honour to be part of the dedicated Coronation Street team in such unprecedented times.”
