Leicester Pride makes a triumphant return
POSTED: Mon 7 September 2009

Leicester Pride made a triumphant return on Saturday 5 September after an absence of two years, welcoming more than 5,000 visitors during the course of the day.

The event featured performances from, among others, Blazin' Squad and local band Heroes, and also boasted community stalls and a funfair.

Commenting on the event, organiser Lee Aldred said: "Pride 2009 proved to be a fantastic success. It was brilliant that the festival made such a strong comeback after missing a couple of years, with over 750 people taking part in the parade."

The parade set off from High Street and made its way through the city centre to the Pride site area at Belgrave Gate. "It was brilliant to see everybody out in force," continued Lee, "and it stayed dry, too, so that everyone could just concentrate on having a good time."
