Civic support for Birmingham Pride 09

Birmingham Pride got the civic seal of approval when the Lord Mayor last month hosted a reception for event organisers and supporters.
Birmingham’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Chauhdry Rashid, met members of the city’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.
Councillor Rashid hosted the reception at the Lord Mayor’s parlour at Birmingham Council House to show his support for this year’s event and to thank organisers for the 2008 festival.
Councillor Rashid said: “I was fortunate in the first week of my office as Lord Mayor last May to officially launch Pride 08. It is good to meet all those people who helped make it a great event and thank them for their hard work.”
